WHERE ARE WE TODAY

· All sections are complete from an operational perspective. Specifically, all mainlines are running with ever reduced crashes as I keep tweaking.

· The circuits for automated operation are installed and running. So essentially the layout can run without intervention until something derails.

· Most lesser engines have a live second engine to get a train past dirty spots on tracks.

· All buildings are complete and many are customized for better detail.

· The layout is populated with vehicles and people.

· All tunnel portals are installed as are mountain skeletal structures.

· Some animation is installed and running – mostly cranes.

· Most overhead animation is installed and operational.

· All engines, trollies and rolling stock is installed and running.

· All vertical rock walls composed of decomposed granite or other pebble material are made and installed, although some touch up is needed.

· All electronics control panels are complete.

· All open freight cars have loads.

WHAT NEXT

Work on the railroad never ends. People ask when will it be done. The answer is simple – NEVER!

Following are all the major projects that I have identified to date. However, I am always finding new things. Although, there will be no new sections.

Animation

· Run power to remaining cranes.

· Install small ground animations such as working backhoes, kite flyers, etc.

· Add a few more overhead animations.

· Hook power to automated crossing signals and blinking street signs.

Sound

· Research and ID small electronic recording devices and compatible speakers.

· Install sound at passenger stations and other key locations.

· Install trigger mechanism using reed switch and MK111 timers to control on and off.

Lighting

· Install lighting for all structures.

Structures

· Add conveyors in Steel and other areas.

· Make large elevated pipeline into refinery.

· Refine details of steel mill.

· Install smoke in smoke stacks.

Ground cover

· Continue installing grass in selected areas.

· Install ballast in all ground level track – not elevated.

Building refinements

· Age and weather older models.

· Install motor on older models.

Rolling stock refinements

· Weather rolling stock.

· Install more grab irons.

Other

· Fencing on elevated rail sections.

· Build overhead wires for electric train pickups.

Mountains

· Apply hard shell casting material.

· Apply plaster.

· Apply plaster and stain.

· Make rock castings, stain and apply to mountain sides and surfaces.

· Apply grasses to mountains.

· Install trees on mountain sides.

· Install trees and stumps to logging areas.

Water bodies - ponds, lakes and harbor

Cut out, plaster, paint, seal and apply resin.

Waterfalls

Plaster, paint, seal and apply resin.
