The camera project and network was created for 3 purposes:
- Security (indoor and outdoor)
-
  Showing current scenery
-   Capturing of live action animal videos

This website was created to make the latter 2 functions available to our relatives and friends locally and around the world.
Current scenery comes from images uploaded every minute or so and can be viewed from the "Scene" related web pages. There are four cameras devoted solely to capturing long distance images. Four other cameras are used for dual purposes - outdoor security or animal activity and, in addition, closer in scenery image capture.
Animal activity videos are recorded by cameras used specifically for capturing animal activity, as well as, some of security cameras. These video clips are accumulated, edited and combined into longer videos for on-line viewing.
Most of the cameras are attached to the house, but several an mounted on posts or high tree stumps and connected via cable to the house. Typically, the cameras get their power and signals from Ethernet cable.
